THE ART​ LIFE

My name is Mychael Sims, owner of Myke Sims Collection. I’m just an artistic kid,born in a small neighborhood in Bastrop, Louisiana. I lived in my hometown until I was about 14. My mom got a really great job opportunity in Atlanta and took a chance on it. So, I ended up moving to the south side of Georgia, Clayton County. I graduated from Lovejoy High School where I played basketball. I later attended, played basketball and earned my degree at Philander Smith College in Little Rock, AR. I grew up with hoop dreams just like every other kid growing up. As I got older, not only did I love the game, I got more into the whole swagger of an athlete. That interest alone led me to the sneakers, which is where the fashion eye started.
Growing up in Louisiana, I didn’t have too many privileges to see nor buy clothes and sneakers growing up. We had our own understanding of what fashion was, if you know what I mean. I didn’t realize that my understanding of fashion would be something completely different after moving to Atlanta. I was always into sneakers, but clothes,white t-shirts and jeans was the G-Code. In Atlanta, fashion is more of an artistic expression of the way a person feels day to day. If someone is having a bad day, it shows in many ways but definitely shows in the appearance. Also, fashion changes so much in Atlanta. Trends come and go. When trends are heavy in Atlanta, that’s all you see. It’s either hot or not out here. I have a completely different eye for fashion now. Especiallybeing on the club scene so much, you really learn that fashion is really in the details. I promote with Elite Stars Ent. in Atlanta, by the way. But, it went from just being about mixing and matching, in my head, to patterns, fabric, stitch patterns, and detailing to create an idea that you sketched on paper. It’s my lifestyle though, I really am the brand,
