Y. JASIELLE
LOS ANGELES , CALIFORNIA

Y. Jaiselle Shoes may be a fancy brand name given to really glamorous shoes, but the real story behind it all is that I am just a regular girl… I am Yasmine Jaiselle. I was raised in Los Angeles and fell in love with high heels when I was about 6 years old. My Dad owned a women’s shoe store, which carried designer brands at a much lower price. The store was filled with some of the biggest brands at the time… rows and rows of shoes. There was one row that was all mine; the size 5’s that no one could fit- I could play dress up whenever I wanted. Wobbling around in those size 5’s, I remember I couldn’t wait to grow up so that I could have some of my own.
I went to college in Florida and majored in Broadcast Journalism. While in college I found joy in utilizing my artistic talent (which came from my mom) by making clothes and costumes for other students. I have been making things, painting and drawing all of my life. I had no real interest in any of the offered areas of study, so I just picked one. I received my Bachelors in Broadcast Journalism and after about a year of working in that field I realized… I hated it. I quickly realized, I should have just gone to design school. So there I was… I picked a major I had no interest in and was earning an average salary.
I didn’t have thousands of dollars to spend on shoes and bags like I would like because after all, I am just a regular girl. So one day while flipping through a magazine I saw Rihanna in a pair of black spiked heels and I loved them. I quickly fell out of love when I found out the shoes were $3,000. As an experiment, I decided to make the shoes myself. They came out really pretty and I posted them on Facebook to show off to my friends… they all wanted some. Soon after, people I didn’t even know where contacting me about the shoes.
Out of nowhere I had a business… and Y. Jaiselle Shoes was born. This journey of mine started in 2010 and is still going strong. I have made well over 400 pairs of shoes that are completely customized for each individual customer. I love coming up with new designs and using different materials. But the best part of what I do is offer the celebrity look to regular girls like me all over the world for less than half the cost. The shoes I create are so fierce no other garment is necessary.
I now love what I do. This is what I was meant for.
